Wine and Olive Tasting in Mendoza province
Here we are in Argentina, after an arduous border crossing that we might blog about later on, but let’s focus on the positive. We’re in the wine region of Mendoza, specifically in the town of Maipu where they are famous for growing wine and olives. And the weather is superb! It feels like late summer. According to the locals, the French would say it is “too easy” to grow wine grapes here because the climate is so perfect. In Mendoza, it is almost always sunny and dry. We took off on 2 rental bikes to explore and plan to do the same tomorrow!
- Biking through the vineyards on a sunny day
- Time to do some tasting!
- Organic winery that grows olive trees and vines side by side
- Bodega Cecchin – our first winery stop
- In the land where palms and vines grow… It seems so odd to me!
- Educating our palates about Malbecs (flagship wine of the area)

Looks amazing – you can keep the wine, but Oh, for olive oil!
