First Post: It’s Official!

All aboard!

It’s official!  As of about 10 days ago, we have both been approved by Cuso for Lima, Peru!  Christina will be going as a volunteer and myself as an accompanying partner (to keep her out of trouble) for nine months.  We fly out from Ottawa on July 1st, so are busily filling out paperwork, doing doctor/dentist visits, and planning what to do with all our stuff while we are away.  We did manage to squeeze in a whirlwind tour with the San Francisco Booths, for which we’ll get some pictures up shortly (I promise).

We decided to separate out the blog from our earlier efforts about European van vagabonding for a couple reasons, but primarily because technology has moved on rapidly since 2010 and one of the features of new blogging software is that its now “responsive”, meaning it will adjust size automatically to fit computers, tablets and smart phones.   We’re really proud of our European vagabonding in a van blog and didn’t want to potentially ruin it by trying to squeeze the old content into the new software container, so we’ve just put up this blog as a parallel blog to stand on its own.
