Home Sweet Home
We were requested to show a bit more of the apartment, so I’ve thrown up a few more for you. We are gradually becoming acclimatized to our new home location. Its a lovely little spot but it does have its idiosyncrasies. For starters, the building we are pressed up next to is an elementary school, which has ringing bells that start at a healthy 6AM in the morning!
Some other fun tidbits:
- We are not allowed to throw toilet paper in the toilet.
- Every door in the house sticks in its frame, the one to our bedroom goes off like a pistol shot at night.
- A select group of outlets need you to hold the plug firmly pressed into them until the device has finished doing whatever you want it to do.
- None of the doors have doorstops, and so the doorknobs are slowly attempting to burrow through the neighbouring wall.
- The washing machine fills nicely, jostles nicely, but refuses to empty itself, necessitating some fishing and wringing steps.
- Despite the coolness of the climate, the air is moist enough that nothing dries.
I’m currently in trouble with Christina for washing her towel (which looks like it might be dry again sometime next month). For all its topsy turvy bits, we still love the apartment and the neighbourhood its located in. Last night we went out for some more Pisco sours, which provoked some very serious discussion about the status of our blender and sources of ingredients for some home made experimentation. After purchasing our Pisco Sours, we were brought a delicious plate of appetizers that included barbecued beef heart. We are going back out tonight to pursue related fields of research…
Happy Weekend Everybody!

We wish you lots of good luck and happiness in Peru. Xxx
