Painting the roses…. green?
A different municipal party was voted in this fall and so January 2 a new mayor came to power. This has meant that everyone on the municipal payroll that I worked with up until now have gone their separate ways.
I can tell that the new administration is ready to get down to business. They’ve started right away. First order of business? Repainting the municipal building… green to better reflect the party that just got voted in….
Here is the transition from the old yellow-beige colour scheme to the new party-inspired green and white:
I walked into work after my holidays to find that the room where we often give job search workshops and invite employers to set up recruitment tables is full of sacks of rice.
It was still there as of Friday. Some of the rows have actually been cleared out in this picture.
In the midst of the rice-caused drought of space, various municipal staff members from various departments have been coming around to see what spaces are available. When they come by our business incubator room, we can see them drooling. And they ask again what we’re using it for…
Thursday, what we were dreading happened: we were asked to clear out of a small office space we’ve been using to make room for someone important. The ground is definitely shifting under our feet! We’re on tenterhooks!
Any chance that they will give you a corner office with window? No? Oh well – hope springs eternal!
Well, we might be moved into the Rice Room with “natural skylights” feature! You might just be able to make them out in the picture.
