Where do angels come from?

Cusco has a very famous cathedral on its main square that features a painting of the Last Supper with a guinea pig being served up to share with the apostles (talk about adapting art for local context). But my favourite art in the cathedral was something a lot more modern. Instead of painting more blond curled-haired, blue-eyed cherubs, a Peruvian artist (Richard Peralta) has used faces of local children for the angels he painted in the cathedral. I couldn’t imagine anything more perfect.
