Hiking in Patagonia
El Chalten is the Patagonian town for hiking. It is also Argentina’s newest town, settled in the 80s(!) to secure the Argentinian claim to the land over the border dispute with Chile. Set in the foothills of the Andes and within easy reach of some glaciers, it has a spectacular setting and a frontier-town cum ski-resort feel. The wind can be something else at times, but we set out over the rolling grassy hills to take in a bit of fall colour, craggy peaks and another glacier, of course. The setting is so remote, all internet goes over satellite, hence the delay in getting these pictures up!

Beautiful landscape. I experienced the same grit in the air when Mount St. Helen’s blew its top. I was in Calgary at the time. That grit is hard on cars, windows, lungs etc.
Photos are beautiful!
